How we handle your information
What this website collects, what stays on your device, and how to ask us about your information. Last updated 1 October 2026.
The short version
- There are no accounts and no signup. You can get an estimate without giving us your name or email address.
- This website does not set cookies, and it contains no analytics or advertising code.
- The estimator works out the price in your browser. What you enter is not sent to us unless you choose to send an enquiry.
- While you use the estimator, your part details are kept in this browser tab only. Pressing Start over clears them, and closing the tab normally does too.
- Drawings are never uploaded to this website. You email them to us from your own email app.
- If you let the estimator measure a DXF file, the file is read on your device only. It is not uploaded or stored.
- If you use an enquiry form, what you type is sent only when you press its Send button. Our website host, Netlify, receives it for us.
- We use your information to reply, quote, make your parts and arrange collection. We do not sell it.
Who we are
This page explains how Xtreme Laser handles personal information that it collects through this website and when you contact us. For anything about your information, email info@xtremelaser.com.au.
What we collect
- Enquiry forms: your name, email address, phone number (if you give one) and message. A quick enquiry from the estimator also includes the estimate summary and its reference.
- Emails: your email address and whatever you include, such as your name, company, drawings, dimensions and the estimate summary.
- Quotes and jobs: if you go ahead, the details of your quote and job, and the records of it that a business needs to keep.
- Technical logs: the standard request logs our website host keeps (see hosting).
The estimator and your browser
The estimator is code that runs on your own device. Your entries are used to calculate the price on that device. They are not sent to our server, and they are never put in the web address.
To keep your estimate while you move between pages, the part details you enter (material, grade, thickness, shape, sizes, holes, quantities and any part names, and the name of a DXF file whose measurements you used) and the estimate reference are saved in your browser’s session storage for this tab. They stay on your device and we cannot see them. They are removed straight away when you press Start over, and your browser normally clears them when you close the tab (some browsers keep them if you reopen a closed tab or restore a session). Your name, email address, phone number and messages are never saved there.
The site does not use cookies or local storage. The only browser storage it uses is the session storage described above.
The estimator can also measure a DXF drawing that you choose on your device. The file is read by code running in your browser, on your device. It is not uploaded, not sent to us or anyone else, and not stored: the page keeps it in memory only while it is open. If you press Use these measurements, the measured figures fill in the part like figures you type, and the file’s name is added to the estimate summary so that it shows which drawing the figures came from. The file itself only reaches us if you attach it to an email.
The estimator uses no personal information and makes no decision about you. See estimates, quotes and payment for what an estimate does and does not include.
The enquiry forms
There are two short text forms: Send a quick enquiry under an estimate, and Send us a message on the contact page. Neither has a file upload.
- What is sent: the name, email address, phone number (if you give one) and message you type. A quick enquiry also sends the estimate summary you can see with Show summary (the parts, sizes, quantities and prices, and the file name of any DXF you measured) and its reference. Each form also has a hidden anti-spam field that people leave empty.
- When: only when you press Send enquiry or Send message. Nothing is sent while you type.
- Who receives it: the forms are processed by Netlify, the company that hosts this website. It stores each submission in our account, where we read it, and it can send us an email notification with the details. Netlify checks form submissions for spam automatically, using a third-party spam-filtering service (Akismet).
Emailing us
Buttons and links on this site that say “Email” open a draft in your own email app. Opening a draft sends nothing. A message is only sent when you press Send in your email app, and you attach any drawing yourself. Your email passes through your email provider and ours, like any email, and we keep it with the records of your enquiry or job.
How we use it
We use the information you send us to:
- reply to your enquiry and prepare a formal quote;
- make your parts and arrange their collection;
- deal with any question or problem about your job; and
- keep the business records we need.
We do not sell personal information.
Who else handles it
- Netlify, which hosts this website and processes the enquiry forms, including the spam check described above.
- Our email provider, which carries and stores the emails you send us and our replies.
- Your own email provider, for emails you send.
We do not otherwise share your personal information unless the law requires or allows it. These service providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States; for example, Netlify says that it may transfer and store personal data outside the country where it was collected, and Netlify is a United States company.
Hosting, logs and links
This website is hosted by Netlify. Like most web hosts, it handles each request and keeps standard technical logs, for example your IP address, the page requested and the time, to run and secure the service. We do not add any tracking of our own.
Everything the site needs, including fonts, images and scripts, is served from our own domain. Pages do not load fonts, scripts or images from other companies.
The site links to our sister companies, Xtreme Canopies and Frymate Australia, and those links open in a new tab. They are separate websites with their own privacy practices, which this page does not cover. When you follow a link to another website, your browser may tell that site that you came from ours.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and we keep it only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires.
Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing info@xtremelaser.com.au. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we will reply within a reasonable time.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a complaint about how we have handled your information, email us first and we will look into it and reply.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). Its website, oaic.gov.au, explains how.
Changes to this page
This page describes how the website and our enquiries work. If that changes in a way that affects your information, for example if we add a new service, we update this page at the same time.
